WHAT WE DO

bridge-for-onramp-web

Onramp provides a strategic bridge of skills and experiences for success in transitioning from campus to work!

We have two principal missions:

1.  Onramp provides critical advantages for early and sustainable success at work.  The internship experiences that are the core of Onramp prepare and enable our graduates to understand HOW to immediately begin focusing on adding new value in the workplace in ways that traditional academic degrees do not, and

2.  Onramp provides training in Entrepreneurship 2.0 skills that teach individuals how to create their futures (or even a new businesses) by learning both how to discover opportunities that are typically overlooked and how to create new possibilities.  Forever.

HOW WE DO IT

Onramp Mentorship & Training – Hands-on practice and discussion about real world work issues are covered in-depth to prepare students for success in work environments and relationships — topics range from areas such as professional email practices to compensation structures and hiring negotiation. These skills are developed in ways that are equally applicable to both for profit and non-profit organizations. These skills are equally relevant and essential to those seeking to work independently or inside organizations.

Learning Effectuation – Effectuation is the cornerstone of our work at Onramp. Effectuation (www.effectuation.org) is a set of principles practiced by expert innovators that enable them to solve problems and create new value — wherever they work whatever their role. At Onramp you will discover the big benefits an entrepreneurial mindset offers without needing to become an entrepreneur.

Onramp Consulting Team – The Onramp cohort works together as an effectuation consulting team on assignment to an area business and provides strategic, effectuation recommendations, and implementation support. These projects are not simulations and are ‘live’ issues.

Onramp Teamwork & Road Trips – Onramp emphasizes building skills for both collaborative and hierarchical environments. As part of Onramp training, we make onsite visits at exemplar innovation organizations to see how successful teams work (possible visits are to groups such as Amazon.com, The Knight Cancer Institute, Galois, Nike and others).

WHY WE DO IT

At Onramp we believe:

  • the generation graduating today is facing a rewrite of the fundamental rules governing work and careers, and

Onramp strives to meet these challenges by:

  • teaching students how to develop an expert entrepreneurial mindset
  • showing  how “entrepreneurship” applies to so much more than just starting businesses
  • proving, at its core, entrepreneurship is all about innovating to create new and true value

We do this using the rails provided from research and practices in the field of Effectuation (www.effectuation.org) and the derived “entrepreneurial method.”

Onramp explodes conventional notions and practices of entrepreneurship that we find to be incomplete in crucial areas, subject to important errors, and misunderstood as belonging mainly to startups, incubators and Silicon Valley style venture capital.

In their place we are striving to instill a more accurate, comprehensive understanding along  with a set of practice competencies that enable students to choose from the infinite opportunities available with an entrepreneurial mindset.

We believe this approach matters.  Immensely.
